WHO COULD’VE KNOWN – III
Getting tough
who could’ve known
darkness
takes the breath away
gasp grasp clutch
for love for air for breath
answering emptiness
flaming despair.
Cry out a clear warning
how to articulate
bell loud metal to metal
grab hold shake
the compass
realign the guts
stripped stuffed
broken.
Alone in the fearful cold
never knew how bad
it could be
empty ash shovel snow
empty days overflow
empty acts go to show
time to make a move or maybe
too late.
