ANNIVERSARY – II
Out around the block this
march day blistering
past a neighbor’s house
old friend frail and fierce
built herself an edifice
that works
of bitterness
fatality
paradoxically
from this she harvests
graciousness
politely
as I rage rage
bluster
ferocity
in march.
A year into a plague
upon
the circle returning
to march
warm days frigid nights
makes the sap run
as we run
crawling craving
sweetness
starved nights
craven in
the garden
of eden.
Mutations emerge thus
we too emerge as
in essence
altered states
unrecognizable variants
present themselves
as nuanced strangers.
Time dissolves
words flake off and disappear and like thoughts crumbling
thoughts crumble
into insignificant
particulate
matter.
