The Split Commentary Schematics posted on this page explore, through digital linear manipulation, sixteen reflective variants of the original eight Form Without Commentary Tracings.
Process is of both conceptual and visual importance here, the making of the work itself having a performance aspect to it. Any installation, be it physical or digital, needs to present this thread of development. This page visually documents the metamorphosis of one Form Without Commentary figure from its skeletal foundation to the resultant Mirror Test/TükörTeszt (Recto & Verso) work.
To formulate the structural basis of these newest paintings, all eight tracings were digitally distilled and manipulated, each Forms‘ halves mirrored to create two symmetrical possibilities. Studying these sixteen digitally constructed schematics, I chose the pair from Form Without Commentary – II as the skeletal foundation of Mirror Test/TükörTeszt. The painting process did the rest.
