HOT SUNSHINE – III

Hot sunshine
and the wide-leaved cucurbits
bend their heads in
the noonday sun
a northern sun
half-baked but hot enough.

Heady stillness
clouded shrouded okay enough
small autocratic men grow
fascists racists nutcake cultists
politicians neolibists
on the unmasked mind.

Open-close-open-close
St. Covid dances clinks the
people while away and die
who ever said it would be
as you wish as
if there were choice.

Didn’t you learn your
history keeping little grey
cells tirelessly engaged
overworked depleted
there’s still hot confusion here
with the wide-leaved cucurbits.
